Curly Parsley
Curly parsley is one of three types of parsley; Hamburg parsley is grown for its roots and flat leaf parsley is very similar in taste to the curly type. All are related to the carrot family, which explains their long root and foliage. Curly parsley like the others, was brought to the UK by the Romans. Some would say the curly type has a slightly stronger flavour than flat leaf, although there really isn't much between them. The curly parsley tends to be used mostly as a garnish, which is a shame as it does have a flavour of its own. It also lasts longer than flat leaf, but needs to be washed more thoroughly before using. Parsley is a good source of vitamin A, C, iron, potassium, and folic acid.
