Banana
Growing on banana trees in large bunches, everyone is familiar with the yellow banana... In actual fact, bananas don't grown on trees at all but are giant herbs; some varieties are red and purple, and some are a different type, being shorter, fatter and sweeter. Green bananas and plantains are used more in cooking while the more typical yellow banana is eaten raw depending on how you like them, starchy to sweet, firm to mushy. A ripe banana is ready to eat when little brown speckles appear on yellow skin - they taste better and are more fragrant. Although in this condition the banana is ready to eat it can easily become overripe, this is why we prefer to supply them yellow/green or yellow. Never store bananas in a fridge as they turn black.
Perhaps surprisingly, a banana is 75% water, is a good source of vitamin C, some B vitamins, potassium and fibre, and the energy boost can be as good for the office as it is for athletes.
