Cut Watermelon
The big, dark green and/or pale green striped watermelon is a different genus to the other smaller, sweeter types. The vines originate from South Africa, where they grown wild, although varying in sweetness. Inside the smooth rind, is a very juicy, sweet flesh, usually red but can also be pink orange or yellow.
There is evidence of its cultivation in north Africa 2000BC, with watermelon seeds having been found in Tutankhamun's tomb. China, the largest producers today of watermelons, was cultivating watermelons in the 10th century AD. Modern cultivars today have been produced without the seeds, or with only a few very soft seeds, which normally characterise the watermelon by being distributed throughout the flesh. The rind of the melon is also edible and can be eaten as a vegetable.
Fresh watermelons are 92% water by weight, and contain vitamins A and C.
Refreshing red watermelon, cut into cubes with as many seeds removed as possible, we do our best! Available in 500ml container.
